Man Hospitalized after Hesperia Car Crash at Deodar Street and Jacaranda Avenue
1 Airlifted After Broadside Accident at Deodar St. and Jacaranda Ave. in Hesperia
Hesperia, California: A man was airlifted to the hospital after a two-vehicle collision that happened Friday morning at an intersection in Hesperia.
The wreck took place around 9 a.m. at Deodar Street and Jacaranda Avenue.
According to investigators, a man was driving a gray Nissan Altima northbound on Jacaranda Avenue and a young woman was driving a white Chevy pickup truck southbound on Jacaranda Avenue.
Both drivers were approaching Deodar Street when the Nissan turned west and got broadsided by the Chevy.
The pickup truck overturned and landed on its roof. The Nissan sustained severe damage to the passenger side.
San Bernardino County fire personnel responded to the scene and requested a medical helicopter to respond and airlift the man to the hospital. The helicopter landed at Desert Valley Hospital, where the man was taken by ground ambulance and subsequently airlifted to Antelope Valley Hospital.
Authorities said the female driver was not hurt.
Investigators closed traffic lanes in the area while they worked the scene and the vehicles were being towed away.
The Hesperia Police Department is investigating the crash.
