1 Airlifted After Hesperia Big Rig Accident on Mariposa Road

Hesperia, California: One person was airlifted to the hospital after a car collided with a big rig Sunday afternoon on Mariposa Road in Hesperia.

Emergency crews from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the scene on the curve between Mesa and Eucalyptus streets after receiving reports of the accident.

The responders found one immediate patient and requested an air ambulance to transport the victim to the hospital. The patient was taken to Desert Valley Hospital by a ground ambulance, from where they were airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center in critical condition. He was a male occupant of a black Audi sedan that collided with a big rig.

Officers did a preliminary investigation and revealed that the sedan was heading north on Mariposa when it partially drove onto the dirt shoulder of the roadway. The car then veered back across traffic and into the path of a southbound big rig.

The big rig collided with the passenger side of the Audi.

Authorities are investigating the collision.
