Woman Injured in Rollover Collision near G Street and 23rd Street in Merced
1 Hospitalized, Driver Arrested After Merced DUI Crash
Merced, California: A woman was hospitalized after a multi-vehicle rollover crash that happened Wednesday night near an intersection in Merced.
According to the Merced Police Department, three vehicles collided just after 9 p.m. on G Street near 23rd Avenue.
The accident involved a 2023 Jeep driven by a 29-year-old Merced woman, a 2018 Subaru driven by a 45-year-old Merced woman with two passengers, and a 2009 Nissan Altima with Ralph Guerrero, of Merced, behind the wheel.
Police said all the cars were traveling north on G Street when the Nissan hit the Jeep and caused it to strike the Subaru. The Jeep overturned in the collision.
The driver of the Jeep was taken to a trauma center with moderate injuries.
The occupants of the Subaru were not hurt.
Responding police officers noticed that the driver of the Nissan had signs and symptoms of intoxication. Guerrero had an odor of alcohol, and several witnesses provided statements to officers.
The driver was also driving “well over the posted speed limit.”
Police arrested the suspect and booked him into Merced County Jail. He will answer charges of suspicion of felony driving under the influence causing bodily injury, DUI of at least .08 blood-alcohol level causing bodily injury, transportation of narcotics, and misdemeanor possession of a narcotic controlled substance.
