Bakersfield, California – A bicyclist was critically injured in a collision that happened on Thursday morning in southwest Bakersfield.
The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. on Hughes Lane at Wilson Road, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Police say a woman driving a minivan ran a red light traveling northbound on Hughes Lane and hit a minivan traveling westbound on Wilson Road.
The impact of the collision sent the minivan across the lanes where it struck a bicyclist.
The bicyclist suffered major injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Both drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
