Woman Killed, Three Hospitalized After Two-Car Crash on State Route 243 in Mattawa

1 Killed, 3 Injured in Mattawa Car Crash on SR 243

Mattawa, Washington: A woman died, and three others were hospitalized after two vehicles collided Sunday on State Route 243 near Mattawa, the Washington State Patrol said.

The accident occurred when, for an unknown reason, a car traveling southbound veered onto the shoulder then the driver overcorrected into the northbound lane.

The vehicle hit another car traveling northbound.

A passenger in the second car, only identified as a 59-year-old woman, died at the crash scene.

The 58-year-old Seattle man driving the vehicle was hospitalized with unknown injuries.

The 31-year-old driver of the first car and her 34-year-old passenger were taken to Kadlec Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Police said the driver of the car that crossed into the northbound lane could face negligent driving charges.
