1 Killed, Another Hospitalized After Car Crash in Hughson

Hughson, California: A man died, and a woman was hospitalized after a fiery collision involving two trucks that happened Sunday afternoon near an intersection in Hughson.

According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, the wreck happened around 5:30 p.m. near Mountain View Road and East Hatch Road.

First responders found two pickup trucks on fire.

A man in one truck died at the scene.

The other truck was unoccupied. Deputies said a woman was driving the second truck and was taken to the hospital by her husband, who was driving a separate vehicle. The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was trying to pass another car on the road while it was not safe to do so. Other cars were approaching when the man attempted to make last-minute corrections.

Witnesses told the deputies that the man’s truck hit the woman’s truck head-on.

An investigation is ongoing.
