1 Killed, Another Injured in Head-On Collision on Hwy 34 in Portland
Portland, Oregon: Jennifer Davina Gere, 43, of Lebanon, died in a head-on collision Thursday afternoon in Portland.
The Oregon State Police said the wreck occurred at about 5 p.m. on Highway 34 near milepost 1.
A preliminary investigation revealed that 19-year-old Jimmie Eugene Beck Jr. of Newport was driving a Ford Fusion in the fast lane when he crossed the center turn lane into oncoming eastbound lane and collided with Gere’s silver Nissan Versa head-on.
Emergency personnel pronounced Gere dead at the scene.
Beck was extricated from his car and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with severe injuries.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
