Driver Dies After Colliding with Kern High School District Bus near South Mount Vernon Avenue and East Belle Terrace
1 Killed in Bakersfield Crash Involving School Bus
Bakersfield, California: One person died, and several others, including students, were injured when a Kern High School District bus collided with another car Thursday evening in Bakersfield.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened just after 6:30 p.m. south of South Mount Vernon Avenue and East Belle Terrace.
Authorities said a school bus was taking Golden Valley High School’s varsity football team to a game at East High School when it collided with a car.
The driver of the car died in the accident.
Students on the bus and the bus driver sustained minor to moderate injuries. No occupant of the bus was hospitalized.
The bus acquired major front-end damage and a broken windshield, and the car sustained severe damage to the front and driver’s side.
The game scheduled between the two teams was canceled following the crash.
