Encinitas, California – A pedestrian died after being struck by a train in Encinitas on Wednesday morning.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department says the accident happened at around 8:30 a.m. in the area of North Coast Highway 101 and Encinitas Boulevard near Moonlight Beach.

A pedestrian was struck by a passenger train in the area in unclear circumstances.

Police say the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The identity of the deceased person was not immediately disclosed.
