1 Killed in Hercules Crash on 80 Freeway near Willow Avenue

Contra Costa, California – One person was killed in a multi-vehicle collision that happened in the Rodeo-Hercules area on Friday morning.

The fatal collision happened around 4 a.m. on westbound I-80 just east of Willow Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A man was driving a silver Chrysler 300 westbound on I-80 when he collided with another (gold) Chrysler 300.

The impact of the collision caused the silver car to overturn onto its roof. A short time later, a white Mazda 3 driven by an adult female crashed into the overturned car.

The driver of the silver vehicle was transported to the hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

The driver of the Mazda was hospitalized with major injuries.

Police say the driver of the gold Chrysler was unhurt.

More details about the accident were not released.
