1 Killed in Otay Mesa Truck Accident on 805 Freeway at Cactus Road
San Diego, California – One person was killed in a car accident on Thursday evening in Otay Mesa.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the fatal crash happened on Otay Mesa Road at Cactus Road at around 6:42 p.m.
A 33-year-old man was driving a semi-truck eastbound on Otay Mesa Road when he stopped for a red light at the intersection. The light turned green and the semi-truck proceeded through the intersection and was rear-ended by a 2016 Chevy Malibu that had been stopped at the eastbound right lane behind the semi-truck.
The rear of the truck penetrated the Chevy’s windshield.
The unidentified driver of the Chevy was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
