1 Killed in Sacramento Crash on Highway 99 near Mack Road

Sacramento, California – One person was killed in a car accident on Monday morning in Sacramento.

The California Highway Patrol says the accident happened around 8 a.m. on northbound Highway 99 near Mack Road.

A 47-year-old Elk Grove man was driving a 2000 Toyota on northbound Highway 99 when he was rear-ended by a 2020 Ford F-320 driven by a 21-year-old man from Patterson.

The impact of the collision pushed the Toyota into the rear of a GMC truck driven by a 53-year-old man from Herald.

The Elk Grove man was transported to an area hospital where he died. His identity was not disclosed pending notification of the next of kin.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
