San Diego, California – One person died in a collision involving a suspected DUI driver that happened on Sunday morning in Escondido.
The fatal collision was reported at around 5:30 a.m. on northbound Interstate 805 Freeway near State Route 905, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 21-year-old Escondido man was driving a Volkswagen coupe when he rear-ended a Honda SUV driven by a 58-year-old Tijuana man.
The Tijuana man, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was killed in the accident.
The Escondido man was injured in the accident and was transported to the hospital in unknown condition. He was later arrested on suspicion of DUI.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
