1 Killed in Van Nuys Pedestrian Accident on North Sepulveda Boulevard

Van Nuys, California – One person was killed and another was injured after being hit by a vehicle in a parking lot in Van Nuys on Friday afternoon.

The fatal collision occurred around 2:05 p.m. in the 6900 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard.

A woman was driving a dark-colored Chevrolet pickup truck and was pulling out of a parking lot when an object got lodged between the gas pedal and the floorboard.

The driver lost control of the truck and struck two pedestrians walking in the parking lot.

The Los Angeles Police Department said one of the victims was dragged by the truck to the street before coming to a stop and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second pedestrian suffered severe injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash.

More details regarding the accident were not provided.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Fallbrook, California: At least four people were killed, and another was seriously injured in a fiery head-on collision that happened Friday night in Fallbrook.

Two vehicles collided head-on around 11:18 p.m. on eastbound State Route 76, about a mile east of Interstate 15.

Authorities said the vehicles caught fire after the impact.

At least four people from both cars died in the crash.

One person was taken to Palomar Hospital in Escondido with major injuries.

Investigators closed SR-76 in both directions between Horse Ranch Creek Road and Rice Canyon Road.

Fresno, California: An early Saturday morning crash in Fresno sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries.

The California Highway Patrol said the wreck occurred around 1:57 a.m. on eastbound State Route 180 near State Route 41.

A tan Ford Expedition collided with another vehicle under unclear circumstances. One of the cars overturned in the crash.

One person was taken to the hospital with major injuries.

CHP officers are investigating the collision.

Names of Those Injured Friday in Highway 120 Crash in Tuolumne County Released

Tuolumne County, California: Authorities identified the two people who were hurt in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Friday morning on Highway 120 in the Moccasin area of Tuolumne County.

The accident was reported around 11:30 a.m. near where the highway meets Highway 4.

According to the California Highway Patrol, 44-year-old Tambra Whitlow of Oakdale was driving a 2001 Subaru Outback heading eastbound on Highway 120 near Moccasin Creek Road.

At the same time, 32-year-old Kevin Shmierer of Stockton was behind the wheel of a westbound 2024 Kenworth big rig. Song Chen, 40, of Sacramento was driving his 2016 Toyota Tundra behind the big rig.

Authorities said, for an unknown reason, Whitlow allowed her vehicle to cross into the westbound lane and hit the left side of the big rig. The car then collided with the Tundra.

Emergency personnel transported Whitlow by air ambulance to Doctors Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.

Chen was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Schmierer was not hurt.

Investigators said alcohol or drugs did not appear to be contributing factors.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
