1 Dies, Several Injured in Fairfield Train Accident at East Tabor Avenue and Railroad Avenue

Fairfield, California (April 27, 2023) – According to the Fairfield Fire Department, one person was killed, and several others were hurt after a train accident on Wednesday morning in Fairfield.

The deadly accident happened at about 8:30 a.m. on April 26, near East Tabor and Railroad Avenues.

Authorities said an Amtrak train was heading eastbound when it hit a vehicle. The impact caused the car to strike a second vehicle. The two vehicles sustained significant damage following the accident.

One person was confirmed dead due to the collision. Several other individuals were hospitalized with injuries of moderate to severe degrees.

Approximately 120 persons, including passengers and crew, were aboard the train at the time. None of the train occupants was hurt in the crash.

Authorities closed Railroad Avenue from Suisun and Tabor Avenue between Clay Bank and Tolenas roads. The road was re-opened by early Wednesday afternoon.

An investigation is ongoing.
