1 Killed, Several Hurt in Corvallis Car Crash

Corvallis, Oregon: One person died, and four others were injured in a traffic collision that happened Thursday afternoon in Corvallis, authorities said.

The collision occurred at about 5:38 p.m. on Highway 99W near NW Elks Avenue.

According to Corvallis police and firefighters, the accident involved three vehicles.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a Subaru Legacy crossed the center lane and collided head-on with a Hyundai Elantra. A third vehicle was also involved in the accident.

The Hyundai was occupied by four people.

A 65-year-old Prineville woman riding as a passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 37-year-old Albany woman and a juvenile were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The driver, a 32-year-old Albany woman, was also taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The driver of the Subaru, a 74-year-old Monmouth woman, was hospitalized with unspecified injuries.

The occupants of the third car were not injured.

Investigators closed the highway for about four and a half hours as they worked the scene.
