1 Seriously Injured in in Cathedral City Crash at Date Palm Drive and Buddy Rogers Avenue

Cathedral City, California – A driver was hospitalized with severe injuries following a DUI crash on Saturday night in Cathedral City.

The crash happened at an intersection of Date Palm Drive and Buddy Rogers Avenue at around 10:40 p.m.

46-year-old Fermin Melendez-Guerra was driving a car southbound on Date Palm Drive when he failed to stop at the red light at Buddy Rogers Drive.

He then collided with another vehicle making a turn from Buddy Rogers Drive onto Date Palm Drive.

The driver of the second vehicle was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Melendez-Guerra fled the scene on foot but was later located and arrested.

Alcohol and drugs appear to be a factor in the crash.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
