2 Caltrans Contract Workers Killed in Chino Hills Crash
Chino Hills, California: Two Caltrans contract workers are dead after they were struck by a box truck that lost control Monday morning on State Route 71 in Chino Hills.

Authorities said about a dozen workers contracted by Caltrans were doing cleanup along the embankment below the highway as part of the governor’s Clean California initiative.
The van they had used to get to the site was parked on the shoulder with the driver inside when the driver of a white box truck sideswiped it, lost control of the vehicle, and went down the embankment where the truck hit two workers.
One of the workers, a 54-year-old San Bernardino man died at the scene, and another 36-year-old San Bernardino man died while receiving treatment at a hospital.
