The California Highway Patrol said the collision occurred at about 9:20 p.m. east of Highway 99, involving a Nissan Altima and a Nissan Rogue.
Authorities said a man was driving the Rogue in the opposite lane when the woman driving the Altima tried to swerve out of the way, and the man also turned at the same time.
The two vehicles collided head-on.
Both the man and the woman were killed in the accident.
A 3-year-old child in the Altima, who is believed to be the woman’s child, was hospitalized with unspecified injuries.
