2 Die After Minivan Crashes into Metro Bus During Police Pursuit
Los Angeles, California: Two people died, and two others were injured when a minivan being chased by the Los Angeles Police Department officers collided with a Metro bus Sunday morning in downtown Los Angeles.
According to LAPD, at around 5 a.m., patrol officers spotted someone throwing a gun from a green minivan near 110 Freeway and Central Avenue and tried to pull the vehicle over.
The driver of the minivan sped away, prompting a police chase.
The pursuit ended about one to two minutes later when the minivan slammed into a Metro bus near Main and 17th streets.
Emergency personnel responded and pronounced one person dead at the scene.
Another person was extricated from the wreckage and, together with two others, rushed to the hospital.
Authorities said one of those hospitalized later died.
The other two, including the minivan driver and another passenger, had non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver and sole occupant of the Metro bus declined treatment or hospitalization.
