2 Drivers Killed in Pescadero Car Crash Identified

Pescadero, California: 29-year-old Patricio Cabrera Jr. and 66-year-old James Allan Willis were identified as the drivers who died when their vehicles collided and submerged into a lagoon Tuesday evening in Pescadero.

The accident happened at about 6:40 p.m. on Highway 1 at Bean Hollow Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Cabrera was driving a Tesla, and Willis was driving a Subaru SUV.

As both vehicles approached each other, one of them crossed over the double-yellow line, causing a crash.

Both cars went off the roadway and careened over the cliff into a nearby lagoon.

The Tesla got fully submerged in the water, and the Subaru partially submerged.

The San Mateo County dive team responded to the scene and pulled Willis and Cabrera from the vehicles while they were dead.

Willis’ wife, who is in her 60s, was a passenger in his car. She was airlifted to Stanford Hospital with major injuries.

Authorities did not immediately determine which vehicle crossed the double-yellow lines.

An investigation is ongoing.
