2 Girls Hit and Injured by Truck Near Redding Intersection
Redding, California: A 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl are nursing injuries after they were struck by a truck Wednesday morning in Redding, authorities said.
The Redding Police Department said the accident was reported around 5:51 a.m. near Shasta View Drive and Hawn Avenue.
Police said 20-year-old Jesse Barrera of Redding was driving a truck northbound on Shasta View Drive when he became distracted and veered off the roadway onto the shoulder of the road.
The truck struck the two girls, who were walking on the east side of the road.
The girls were injured in the crash, one of them seriously.
Investigators closed southbound Shasta View Drive from Hartnell Avenue and northbound Shasta View Drive from Belladonna Street.
