Oceanside, California – Two people suffered severe injuries after their car crashed into a parked excavator in Oceanside on Sunday afternoon.
The Oceanside Fire Department said the accident occurred on the eastbound lanes of State Route 78 near El Camino Real at around 4:15 p.m.
A car reportedly crashed into a parked excavator in unclear circumstances.
The driver of the car and their passenger were trapped inside the car following the impact of the crash.
Oceanside Fire Department said the driver was extricated and airlifted to a nearby hospital with severe injuries.
The passenger was also hospitalized with serious injuries.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
