2 Killed, 2 Fontana Police Officers Injured After Police Chase Ends in Crash

Fontana, California: Two people died, and four others, including two police officers, were seriously injured when a brief police chase ended in a crash Saturday night in Fontana.

According to the Fontana Police Department, the wreck occurred around 10:45 p.m. near Valley Boulevard and Cypress Avenue.

Authorities said officers attempted to pull over a white Nissan Sentra for “vehicle code violations,” but the driver did not comply.

The officers started a chase that lasted about 20 seconds, reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour, and ended up in a crash after the suspect driver lost control of the Sentra and collided with a responding patrol vehicle.

Four people occupied the car being pursued. Two were pronounced dead at the scene, and the other two were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Two police officers were also hospitalized with serious injuries.

The collision is being investigated by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Traffic Investigation Team.
