2 Killed and 2 Injured in Saturday Afternoon Porterville Crash

Porterville, California: A man and a woman died, and two others were injured after a driver ran a stop sign Saturday afternoon at Road 256 and Avenue 196 in Porterville.

The incident happened at around 4 p.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 28-year-old San Pablo man was driving his Nissan Sentra northbound on Road 256, approaching Avenue 196, with a 38-year-old Corcoran woman as his passenger.

A 1989 Ford 250 pulling a stock trailer was, at the same time, headed eastbound on Avenue 196, approaching Road 256.

Officers said the 28-year-old man ran a stop sign at the intersection, and his Nissan collided with the right side of the Ford.

The Corcoran woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The Nissan driver was taken to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The Porterville resident driving the Ford was hospitalized with minor injuries, and his passenger with major injuries.

Police did not immediately establish whether impairment played a role in the crash.
