2 Killed in Bakersfield Accident at Niles Street and Kern Street
Bakersfield, California – Two people were killed in a traffic collision that left a 2-year-old child injured in Bakersfield on Sunday.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the accident happened on Niles Street at Kern Street at around 5:40 a.m.
A Bakersfield Police Department patrol car was traveling westbound on Niles when it collided with a car traveling northbound.
The driver of the other vehicle was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The front female passenger of the car was hospitalized at a local hospital, where she later died
A 2-year-old child in the vehicle was also hospitalized, with life-threatening injuries.
The officers in the patrol car were hospitalized with minor to moderate injuries.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office did not disclose the identities of the victims.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
