2 Killed in Fiery Crash in Cajon Pass

Cajon Pass, California: Two people died in a fiery Cajon Pass multi-vehicle collision that happened early Monday morning on Interstate 15, the California Highway Patrol said.

The collision took place at about 3:49 a.m. on northbound Interstate 15, about a mile after the Kenwood Avenue exit.

CHP said a white Toyota Highlander and a possible white Nissan Versa collided in a dark area along the freeway under unclear circumstances.

The Nissan was blocking traffic lanes when a black Buick Verano hit it from the rear, causing it to burst into flames.

The driver of the Buick probably failed to see the Nissan due to the darkness.

California Highway Patrol officers and San Bernardino firefighters responded to the scene.

Two people were killed in the accident.

One person was reportedly hospitalized with minor-to-major injuries, including a shoulder injury.

Authorities are investigating the collision.
