2 Killed in Head-On Collision Involving Wrong-Way Driver on 101 Freeway in Ventura

Ventura, California: Two men were killed in a wrong-way collision that happened early Saturday morning on 101 Freeway in Ventura.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the double fatal collision occurred just before 2:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the freeway north of Seaward Avenue.

CHP officers said just before the collision, Evan John Bouchard of Oxnard was driving a Volkswagen Jetta south in the northbound lanes. Moments later, he collided head-on with a Nissan Versa.

A 52-year-old man and a 55-year-old man in the Nissan were killed in the crash.

Bouchard sustained minor injuries. He was taken to a hospital and then arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence causing injury and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He was booked into the Ventura County Jail.
