2 Killed in Head-On Collision on Highway 20 near Wyncoop Road in Sutter County

Sutter County, California (April 25, 2023) – Two people were killed in a car crash on Tuesday afternoon in Sutter County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Highway 20 near Wyncoop Road around 12:50 p.m.

A Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound on Highway 20 when it drifted across the double yellow line and sideswiped an eastbound Mercedes C300 before colliding head-on with a Lincoln MKT.

The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The 63-year-old woman driving the Lincoln had to be extricated before being rushed to Adventist Health and Rideout where she died.

A 66-year-old male passenger in the Lincoln was transported to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment of major injuries including a broken femur.

Officials say the 40-year-old woman who was driving the Mercedes suffered minor injuries in the accident but was hot hospitalized.
