Yuma County, Arizona: The two people killed Tuesday morning in a semi-truck accident at an intersection in Yuma County were identified as 75-year-old Margarita Lopez and 57-year-old Gilberto Lopez Jr.

The accident occurred on Highway 80 at Avenue 26E.

Authorities said a white freight truck hauling two trailers was traveling eastbound on Highway 80 when the driver lost control of the vehicle, and the trailers crossed the center line and hit a Toyota Tundra heading westbound on the highway.

Margarita was driving the Toyota and died at the scene.

Gilberto was a passenger in the accident and was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He later died at the hospital.

Authorities said impairment did not appear to be a factor in the accident.
