2 Killed in Madera Crash on Avenue 17 near Crescent Drive
Madera, California – A man died after being struck by a car on Friday night in Madera on Friday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 9:46 p.m. on Avenue 17 near Crescent Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A man was unloading corn from the bed of a parked Ford F-250 pickup truck when he was struck by a Nissan Altima traveling eastbound on Avenue 17.
The Kerman man, believed to be in his 40s, died at the accident scene.
The speeding Nissan also crashed into two other vehicles, pushing the into a nearby chain-link fence.
The Nissan came to rest in the middle of Avenue 17, and caught fire.
The Nissan driver, a 22-year-old man from Firebaugh, also suffered fatal injuries.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
