2 Killed in Mount Shasta Crash on 5 Freeway near Mount Shasta Boulevard

Mount Shasta, California – At least two people are dead after a car crash that happened in Mount Shasta on Thursday evening.

The double fatal collision happened on Interstate 5 Freeway near Mount Shasta Boulevard at around 6 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities say a sports car was traveling northbound when it collided head-on with a car that was traveling southbound.

One person in the sports car was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The driver of the southbound car was also pronounced dead at the accident scene while a passenger was transported to Mercy Medical Center before being airlifted to UC Davis with major burns to their body.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
