2 Killed in Multi-Vehicle Collision on 15 Fwy in Lake Elsinore

Lake Elsinore, California: The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Coroner’s Bureau identified the two people who died in a multi-vehicle collision Wednesday night in Lake Elsinore.

34-year-old Nicholas Lanni, of Norco, and 79-year-old Gene Kittiko, of Ontario, were killed in the 10 p.m. crash on the northbound 15 Freeway near Indian Truck Trail.

Investigators said a gray sedan hit the center divider and triggered a collision involving three other vehicles.

CHP officers responded and found Lanni unresponsive. The officers provided CPR on the victim until firefighters arrived. The firefighters later pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

Four other victims, including Kittiko, who was critically injured, were taken to local hospitals.

Kittiko died about two hours later.

The pileup forced the closure of the southbound 15 Freeway for several hours.

The collision is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol’s Inland Division.
