Two People Die, Several Others Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision at US Highway 95 and Avenue D
2 Killed in Somerton Car Crash on US Highway 95 and Avenue D
Somerton, Arizona: Two people died, and several others were injured in a two-vehicle collision that happened Thursday morning in Somerton, according to the Somerton Police Department.
The accident happened on US Highway 95 at Avenue D.
According to police, a Toyota Corolla was traveling westbound on US Highway 95 when it was struck by a Dodge Journey driving southbound on Avenue D.
Somerton and Cocopah police responded to the scene and found a 16-year-old girl lying on the ground after she was ejected from the Toyota. She was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.
Two other occupants of the Toyota were taken to the hospital and later airlifted to a Phoenix-area hospital.
The driver of the Toyota was identified as a 45-year-old woman. She is the mother of the 16-year-old girl.
81-year-old Agapito Molina was the front passenger of the vehicle and died from his injuries Friday morning.
The 70-year-old woman driving the Dodge and her 71-year-old male passenger were hospitalized at Yuma Regional Medical Center.
Investigators do not believe impairment or speed were factors.
