2 Men Die in Wrong-Way Collision on I-280 in Daly City

Daly City, California: Two men died in a collision when one of them was driving a car in the wrong direction early Monday morning on Interstate 280 in Daly City.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 2:42 a.m. near John Daly Boulevard.

Investigators said a 53-year-old man was driving a Toyota Corolla northbound in the southbound lanes when he collided with a Toyota Previa minivan driven by a 33-year-old man southbound.

Responding emergency personnel pronounced one man dead at the scene, and transported the other to a hospital, where he also died.

It was unclear why the Toyota driver was going the wrong way.

Southbound I-280 was closed during an investigation.
