Manuel Ortiz and Jose Huerta Die after Being Hit by DUI Suspect on Shattuck Place in Orange
2 Men Killed in DUI Accident in Orange Identified
Orange, California: The two men who died after a DUI suspect hit them on Thanksgiving Day in Orange have been identified.
59-year-old Manuel Ortiz from Santa Ana and 51-year-old Jose Huerta from Orange died at the scene of the crash in the 700 block of North Shattuck Place.
The two men were outside Huerta’s home working on a broken-down Chevrolet Silverado when a southbound Ford F-250 crashed into the Chevy and the victims.
The driver of the Ford, 26-year-old Humberto Lopez Flores of Orange, fled the scene on foot after the collision which occurred around 8:15 p.m.
Ortiz and Huerta were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect was later located and arrested near Lincoln Street and Oakmont Avenue.
Flores was booked into the Orange County Jail for two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of alcohol causing death, and fleeing a crash scene.
