2 Portland Officers Hospitalized After DUI Crash on I-205

Portland, Oregon: Two police officers and a DUI driver were hospitalized after a traffic collision that happened Tuesday night on Interstate 205.

East Precinct officers said the collision occurred around 11:18 p.m. near Southeast Market Street.

Responding officers found a patrol car and a civilian car involved in the accident.

Two officers who occupied the patrol vehicle and the driver of the civilian car were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. All the patients were treated and released.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the patrol vehicle was blocking a lane on the interstate for a tow truck to hook up a car when the driver of an oncoming vehicle slammed into it.

The driver who caused the crash was arrested after being released from the hospital on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. The suspect was identified as 48-year-old Brent W. Bussell, of Happy Valley. The driver was booked into the Multnomah County Jail.

The interstate remained blocked south of Southeast Division Street during the investigation.
