2 Seriously Injured After Sedan, Big Rig Collision on National Trails Highway in Victorville

Victorville, California: Francisco Contreras, 23, of San Bernardino, and Alexis Franco, 25, of Helendale, were seriously injured in a semi-truck accident that happened early Wednesday morning at an intersection in Victorville.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the wreck occurred around 1:40 a.m. on National Trails Highway and Wilderness Court.

A gray Nissan Sentra and a blue Peterbilt 389 tractor-trailer collided under unclear circumstances.

Deputies from the Victorville Station and rescue personnel from the Victorville Fire Department and American Medical Response responded to the scene.

Contreras and Franco were occupying the Sentra at the time of the collision. They were taken to an out-of-area trauma center with serious injuries.

National Trails Highway was shut down between Air Expressway and First Street for several hours following the collision.

The crash is under investigation by the Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).
