2 Suffer Major Injuries in Car Collision on Highway 129 in Santa Cruz County

Santa Cruz County, California: Two men sustained major injuries in a two-vehicle collision that happened Monday morning on Highway 129 in Santa Cruz County.

The California Highway Patrol said two vehicles collided around 6:30 a.m. near Rogge Lane, east of Watsonville.

The CHP report did not mention the cause of the accident.

A 21-year-old man and a 34-year-old man were taken to the hospital with major injuries but in stable condition.

Four dogs in one of the cars survived the collision. The animals were taken to the county animal shelter.

Investigators closed Highway 129 between Watsonville and San Juan Bautista in Benito County during the investigation. The highway was reopened around 9:30 a.m.
