3 Caltrans Workers Hit and Injured by Car in San Diego

San Diego, California: Three Caltrans workers were injured, and a driver was arrested after a traffic accident that happened early Tuesday morning in the Chollas View community of San Diego.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the accident took place around 3 a.m. on the Market Street on-ramp to the northbound Interstate 805.

Authorities said contractors with the California Department of Transportation were working on the on-ramp when a woman driving a car ran a red light and crashed through their barricades.

The vehicle hit three workers and then slammed into their work trailer.

San Diego police officers were in the area and witnessed the collision. The officers arrested the woman and handed her to the California Highway Patrol.

The three workers sustained unspecified injuries. At least one of them, a man, had his leg splinted by paramedics.

Authorities are investigating the crash.
