3, Including Baby, Killed in Los Banos DUI Crash on Hwy 140

Merced County, California: Three people, including a baby, died in a head-on collision involving a DUI driver that happened Friday night in Los Banos.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck happened when Robert Pimentel, 40, drifted while driving a Ford Explorer east on Highway 140.

Pimentel attempted to correct himself but crossed the yellow line and collided head-on with a Ford Expedition.

The Ford was carrying seven people. The 67-year-old driver, a 69-year-old passenger, and a three-month-old baby died in the crash.

The other four passengers of the Ford were hospitalized with moderate to major injuries.

Pimentel was also hospitalized for his injuries. He was also arrested for driving under the influence.

No other details were given, but an investigation is ongoing.
