Three People Hurt in Four-Vehicle Crash Involving Dump Truck on Highway 99 near Garner Lane
3 Injured in Chico Car Accident on Highway 99
Chico, California: Three people were injured when a dump truck slammed into several other vehicles Monday morning near an intersection in Chico.
The California Highway Patrol said the pileup occurred around 7:32 a.m. on northbound Highway 99 at Garner Lane.
According to authorities, a Toyota Prius, a Chevy Tahoe, and a Honda CR-V were waiting at the red light before Garner Lane when a dump truck slammed into them.
The drivers of the Honda and the Chevy suffered minor injuries. A passenger in the Chevy sustained moderate injuries.
The dump truck driver told investigators that he possibly fell asleep at the wheel prior to the collision.
Northbound Highway 99 remained closed until at 8:15 a.m. when the lanes were reopened.
