According to the Orange County Fire Authority, the collision happened around 5:30 p.m. at Beach Boulevard and Orangethorpe Avenue.
Six vehicles were involved in the crash, but the events that led to the collision were not immediately established.
The impact of the crash caused two vehicles to overturn and two people were trapped inside.
Firefighters rescued the trapped victims and rushed them to hospital with unknown injuries.
Police say a third person was also hospitalized.
