3 Injured in San Rafael Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101

San Rafael, California: Three people were injured in a multi-vehicle pileup that happened Sunday night on Highway 101 in San Rafael, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Five vehicles collided around 11:20 p.m. in the northbound lanes just south of Lucas Valley Road off-ramp.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene shortly after the crash.

One of the cars, a white BMW SUV, had its airbags deployed.

CHP said three people were hurt, at least one of them seriously.

About 35 feet of guardrail and 8 posts were destroyed.

Officers are investigating the cause of the accident.
