Three People Die, Four Others Hospitalized After Caruthers Car Accident on Highway 41 at East Nebraska Avenue
3 Killed, 4 Injured After 2 Pickup Trucks Collide near Caruthers
Caruthers, California: Three people died, and four others were hospitalized after two pickup trucks collided Friday night near Caruthers.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 7 p.m. on southbound Highway 41 at East Nebraska Avenue.
CHP said a man in his late 50s was driving a Silverado pickup truck, crossing the intersection when he failed to stop and collided with a Dodge pickup truck hauling a fifth-wheel trailer, or camper.
The Silverado driver died in the crash.
Three female passengers in the Silverado were not wearing seatbelts and got ejected. Two of them died at the scene, and the third was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
The Dodge truck was occupied by three people, including two men in their 30s and a 4-year-old boy. The three occupants were taken to Community Regional Medical Center but are expected to be OK.
Southbound Highway 41 was closed at East Floral Avenue for an investigation.
