3 Killed in Multi-Vehicle Collision on Highway 101 near Fair Oaks Avenue in Sunnyvale
San Jose, California – Three people were killed in a chain-reaction collision that happened early Monday morning in Sunnyvale.
The California Highway Patrol says the accident happened at around 12:30 a.m. on Highway 101 near Fair Oaks Avenue.
Authorities say a pickup truck lost control on the highway and crashed.
Three people exited the vehicle and were walking on the highway when they were struck by another vehicle. Two of the victims were thrown across the median and were struck by another car traveling in the opposite direction.
A total of six vehicles were involved in the collision.
Five people were injured in the accident and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Additional information about the accident was not provided.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
