3 Killed in Palm Springs Crash Identified
Palm Springs, California: The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner identified the three people who were killed in a traffic collision Sunday afternoon in Palm Springs.
The victims were 29-year-old David Losacco, 29-year-old Millicent Lewis, and 32-year-old Yovani Aguilar Tapia. All were Escondido residents.
The collision happened around 2:48 p.m. on Gene Autry Trail, about half a mile from Via Escuela.
Investigators said dusty conditions and low visibility were contributing factors.
The collision happened when two cars traveling northbound slowed down because of low visibility, but the driver of a third vehicle failed to slow down.
The third car rear-ended one of the other vehicles, which, in turn, collided with the other car.
The driver and two rear passengers of one of the cars died from their injuries.
The occupants of the other vehicles suffered minor to moderate injuries. The patients were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police closed Gene Autry Trail for the rest of the day and until Monday morning due to ongoing visibility issues as they investigated.
