Upland, California – Three people were killed in a car accident early Friday morning in Upland.

The fatal collision happened around 2 a.m. near 16th Street and Mountain Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a deputy in Rancho Cucamonga attempted a traffic stop, but a driver failed to pull over and sped off.

The deputy pursued the suspect who then collided with another car at the intersection.

At least three people were killed in the accident.
