Maricopa County, Arizona: Three people died in a wrong-way head-on collision that happened early Sunday morning near Fountain Hills.
The collision took place around 4:30 a.m. on SR-87 near Shea Boulevard.
Police said a car was driving southbound in the northbound lanes when it collided head-on with another vehicle.
Three passengers in the northbound vehicle were killed in the accident.
Both drivers were sustained unspecified injuries.
DPS closed the northbound lanes of the highway during the investigation.
