Three People Hospitalized after Longview Van Collision on 1000 7th Avenue

3 People Suffer Serious Injuries After Van Goes Off-Road and Crashes into Apartment Building in Longview

Longview, Washington: Three people were seriously injured when a van veered off the roadway, hit a pedestrian, and crashed into an apartment building Thursday morning in Longview.

According to the Longview Fire Department, the accident happened around 11:21 a.m. in the 1000 block of 7th Avenue.

Firefighters responded to the scene shortly after receiving reports of the crash and found a woman lying unconscious on the front lawn outside the van, another woman trapped inside the building, and a van partially inside a building with the driver inside the vehicle with injuries.

The firefighters freed the trapped victim from the rubble using chainsaws to cut through walls from the outside. The victim was taken by LifeFlight Helicopter to Southwest Medical Center in critical condition.

The other woman and the elderly man driving the van were taken by ground ambulance to St. John Medical Center. The pedestrian was also hospitalized in critical condition, and the man in stable condition.

Investigators are looking into whether the man suffered a medical emergency just before veering off the roadway.

The occupants of the building were evacuated to allow its structural integrity to be checked.
